Embracing My Passion: From Auditions to Entrepreneurship
I have had the privilege of embarking on a unique journey that has allowed me to explore my interests, discover my passions, and transform them into meaningful pursuits. My story is one of dual lives and a relentless pursuit of self-discovery, one that I believe embodies the essence of what education and personal growth truly mean.
My high school experience is unconventional, to say the least. I chose to simultaneously attend both a traditional public high school and a homeschool co-op known as Workspace Academy (then, upon its’ closure, continuing with several educators via remote). This decision wasn't driven by a lack of commitment or direction; it was a conscious choice to embrace the multifaceted aspects of life and education. The public high school provides me with the quintessential teenage experience, with social interactions, sports, and camaraderie at the forefront. Still, the conventional classroom setting fails to truly stimulate my intellectual curiosity.
On the other hand, Workspace Academy was a haven of intellectual growth and passion. It was here that I found myself surrounded by passionate educators who encouraged me to explore and delve deeper into subjects that genuinely piqued my interest. The flexibility and tailored approach to learning via homeschooling allows me to flourish academically, nurturing my thirst for knowledge.
My journey, several years ago, took a surprising twist when I was signed by BMG, a renowned talent and modeling agency. This opportunity opened doors to an entirely different world, one where I found myself traveling back and forth to New York City for auditions. Auditioning for lead roles in major productions, including the opportunity to audition for stars like Jack Black and Shia LaBeouf in "Honey Boy," the shows “Billions”, “Titans”, and “Butterbean’s Café” on Nickelodeon to name a few, was all such an incredible experience. Despite the allure of the spotlight, I soon realized that acting was not my true passion, but the experience was far from wasted. It taught me the value of opportunity and the importance of pursuing one's true passions. A funny anecdote from the set of "A Plot Against America" with Winona Ryder reflects this: I didn't recognize her, and I enthusiastically complimented her acting after our scene, to which she graciously responded. I told my parents later and they laughed saying that she was this well-known movie actress that knows what she's doing but they're sure she appreciated my positive feedback!
My interests have evolved over the years, leading me to a unique realization: I believe my true passion lies in clothing design. Inspired by my journey and guided by the entrepreneurial skills I acquired through classes at Workspace Academy, I founded my own clothing line called "A Strong Life." My e-commerce store has been generating sales, allowing me to combine my creativity and entrepreneurial spirit into a fulfilling endeavor.
My aspirations for college are twofold. First, I aim to embrace the social and communal aspects of college life, forging lifelong connections and networking opportunities. The importance of "who you know" in the professional world is not lost on me, and I am determined to be successful.
Second, I plan to focus on business courses, capitalizing on the entrepreneurial mindset I've developed. Challenges are not obstacles; they are opportunities to exceed expectations.
I understand that my Brookfield High School grades may not reflect the depth of my potential. Public school was the platform for socialization and sports, while homeschooling nurtured my thirst for knowledge and allowed me to explore my entrepreneurial pursuits.
My journey has underscored the importance of shaping a career aligned with passion. I firmly believe genuine success stems from crafting one's destiny. I've woven my educational path, extracting the best from diverse schooling experiences. As I enter the college chapter, I anticipate a thrilling journey characterized by personal growth, entrepreneurship, and the unwavering pursuit of my aspirations.
